The latest proposals and the most surprising foods at the gastronomic event of the year

Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona opens its doors on Monday, in the Monjuïc venue of Fira

The Minister of Agriculture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Teresa Jordà, will inaugurate Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona 2019 on Monday 18 November at 12.00. For three days (from Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 November), the show will bring together around 300 exhibiting companies and around 45 chefs with 31 Michelin stars in hall 8 of the Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue.

Under the slogan ‘(Re)think about gastronomy’, Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona 2019 will invite to reflect on the current gastronomic moment, to enhance talent and to promote more sustainable businesses. In this way, the event will focus on issues such as sustainability and territory, the role of women in gastronomy, the effervescence of cuisine in Europe and the balance between tradition and innovation.

The show, which has far surpassed its initial participation expectations, will have nearly 300 exhibitor firms occupying a total of 10,000 m2 (6,000 m2 of exhibition space and 4,000 m2 destined for activities), the whole of hall 8 of Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue.

Through more than 100 programmed activities, Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona 2019 becomes a platform to show the most innovative proposals and share emerging trends in cooking, the commitment to local products, the return of the “tripe” to the fires and the fashion of restaurants with their own gardens, among other current issues.

In summary, a complete programme with more than 75 gastronomic and oenological demonstrations and presentations, 50 chefs with a total of 31 Michelin stars, 30 conferences on business, digitalisation and sustainability in hospitality and live competitions such as The Best Dessert, the Spanish championship of the Artisan Panettone – a sweet whose consumption has multiplied tenfold in the last five years -, the Plato Favorito de los Catalanes 2019, or the InnoFòrum Awards that will recognise the most innovative product, the most creative packaging or the most original flavour.

New products and gastronomic curiosities will also feature in the trade show where, among other products, you can see canned mussels in vermouth sauce of albariño, chocolate nougat aired with salted almonds, spider crab pâté and prawns with garlic, barbecued meatballs, cheese fuet XXL or vegan alioli cheese, among other surprising sustainable, healthy and gourmet proposals.
