Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona will have leading firms in foodservice and the hotel and catering industry

Driven by its alliance with Fira de Barcelona, through Alimentaria Exhibitions, the 2019 edition of Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona confirms its participation forecasts and will be the largest held so far. For this reason, it is expected that its exhibition area will grow 100% with respect to the last edition held in Barcelona in 2016, and that it will reach close to 6,000 net square metres in Hall 8 of the Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue, of which more than half have already been reserved, with almost eight months left for its celebration.

The good progress of the commercialisation confirms the great reception that this professional show is receiving from the foodservice, food and catering equipment sector. Leading companies such as Estrella Damm, Tupinamba, Sosa, Balfegó, Bidfood, Friolisa, Completo Hotel, Girbau, Pordamsa or Soublin, among others, have already confirmed their participation as exhibitors in this event, which hopes to open up to new markets.

Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona, which will be held from 18th to 20th November 2019, will take place in alternate years with Alimentaria and Hostelco, so that Barcelona will have every year a major fair related to food and foodservice. It will therefore be a networking space in which the main national and international agents of the world of gastronomy will participate and will facilitate business meetings and the exchange of ideas.

J. Antonio Valls, Managing Director of Alimentaria Exhibitions, emphasises that “very important companies in the food, foodservice and catering equipment sectors have already confirmed their presence in the new stage of the Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona. Their support shows their confidence in a project in full expansion that has become an essential date in the calendar of professionals in the world of gastronomy”.

According to Jaume von Arend, co-director of Fòrum Gastronòmic S.L., “we are very satisfied with the great reception of the Fórum by companies that have already registered. On the one hand, they repeat many of those who already knew about the event from other editions, which shows that the Fórum generates business. But new exhibitors are also interested, who see Barcelona as a great showcase that expands frontiers”. In addition, von Arend points out that “once the first phase has been completed, we are working to expand the offer and reach all sectors of foodservice, so that visitors have a wide range of products. And of course, without forgetting the small producers who are part of the DNA of the Fórum”.

The best professionals

Cooks, chefs, sommeliers, confectioners, artisans and other professionals from the food sector will meet at the different venues (Auditorium, Agora and Workshops), which will offer everything from thematic sessions to presentations of products and services. Thus, in addition to showcasing products, novelties and trends in the sector, the fair will function as a large space for disseminating the latest innovations in the field of gastronomy and foodservice.

Fórum Gastronómico will include specialised proposals such as the Wine Forum, which will host the presentations of the best oenologists, viticulturists, sommeliers and prescribers; the Sweet Forum, a dissemination space that will focus on pastry, ice cream and bakery; and the Business Forum, a day dedicated to business and hotel management, which will address current issues from different points of view.

The prizes will also occupy a prominent place in the Fórum Gastronómico, which will award three prizes, in addition to promoting various competitions in collaboration with companies and institutions. On the one hand, Cuiner 2019 will distinguish the work of emerging chefs who use local products. On the other hand, the Josep Mercader Awards will recognise the professional careers of chefs, oenologists, room managers, producers and disseminators of Catalan culinary culture. And finally, InnoFòrum will award innovation in gastronomy from different categories: the most creative packaging, the most innovative product and the most original flavour.

Fòrum Gastronòmic and Alimentaria Exhibitions

Fórum Gastronómico Barcelona will be the first organised by Fira de Barcelona, through its company Alimentaria Exhibitions, jointly with Fòrum Gastronòmic.

Born in 1999, the Fòrum Gastronòmic celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2019. In addition to Barcelona, it is also held in Girona and A Coruña.

For its part, Alimentaria Exhibitions has a portfolio of shows including Alimentaria Barcelona, Barcelona Wine Week, Alimentaria FoodTech, Alimentaria & Horexpo Lisboa and Expo ANTAD & Alimentaria México.
